West Shore Christian Educational Co-op is an enrichment co-op for homeschooling families in grades K-12. We also offer nursery and preschool. We meet on alternate Thursdays of the month for 7 sessions in the fall and 7 sessions in the spring for three 55 minute periods each session. Our parents teach a class, help in a class and have off for a third period. We offer a wide variety of classes from reading, writing and arithmetic to knitting and volleyball. Class options change each semester. The co-op meets at Christian Life Assembly Church on Lisburn Road in Camp Hill.

Our Core Beliefs & Behaviors

As a community we believe that:

Every life matters to God.   Therefore, every father, mother and child in our community matters and deserves our love, attention and service.

Family was created by God and is a gift to be cherished and protected.   Therefore, we highly value and consider it a privilege to serve families.

Parents are responsible for their children's education and preparation for the future.  Home schooling is a courageous and sacrificial choice for that education.   Therefore, we come alongside parents in that endeavor by supporting, encouraging and providing educational experiences for both children and parents.

Homeschooling mothers are very special people and have profound responsibility and calling to nurture the hearts and lives of their children.   Therefore, we do all that we can to encourage, teach, pray for, and support mothers in particular.

God has given each person gifts and abilities to be used to further His Kingdom here on earth.   Therefore, we provide ways for both mothers and children to discover, develop, and use their gifts and abilities.

Our Mission

To build a distinctly Christian educational community where God is not only welcome but honored and pursued, where students are encouraged to find and pursue God's plan for their lives, where moms/parents are encouraged, supported and educated to fulfill their role as educational supervisor, and where moms/parents are able to develop and use their gifts and abilities.

It is WSCEC's purpose and privilege to provide the following for homeschooling families:

  • Support and encouragement for parents through devotions, fellowship, workshops, trainings, resources, and opportunities to use their gifts and abilities.
  • Stimulating, organized, and educational activities for small babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.
  • Engaging, educational learning experiences for children K-12 which may include language arts, history, sciences, mathematics, fine arts, foreign languages, physical education, life skills, field trips and other special interest subjects.
  • Quality academic classes for middle and high school students.

Our Foundation of Faith

West Shore Christian Evangelical Co-op is a non-denominational, evangelical (believing in the necessity of salvation in Christ), Bible-believing (embracing the Bible as God's infallible and complete message to all people) and grace-dependent group of home educating families.  We believe the following truths found in the inerrant Word of God.

There is one true God who exists in a perfect relationship of three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)

All people sin, falling short of God's standard of perfection thus separating them from God (Rom. 5:12, 3:23). The payment for sin is eternal separation from God, but in God's great love and mercy, He has provided all people a way of salvation - a way to be reunited with God -  through Jesus Christ's death, burial and resurrection. (Rom. 6:23, 1 Peter 1:3)

Salvation comes by grace through faith, not by any good works that we may do, but it is a gift of God (Eph. 2:8&9) and that anyone who confesses with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and believes in his heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, he will be saved. (Rom. 10:9 & 10, 13)

Upon receiving this salvation, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us, teaching us and enabling us to have a personal, vibrant relationship with God and live a Godly life. (Acts 2:38, John 14:26)

Those who receive this salvation through faith in Christ make up the true church, the body of Christ. We value the body of Christ regardless of denominational lines. (1 Corinthians 12:13)

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to testify to the Good News of God's grace by speaking out and living out our faith openly before others (Acts 20:24) and by loving God with all our hearts, minds, souls and strength and love others as ourselves. (Luke 10:27)

Bringing glory to God is our greatest purpose in this life. (1Cor. 10:31)

Meet Our Coordinator-Kris Stoddard

Kris Stoddard has been married to her husband, Bruce, for over 20 years. Formerly she was a school teacher, after which, she and her husband were led by God to take in foster children for adoption. After several years in the public school, because of the needs of their children, they brought all six home to continue their education. They have since developed a deep conviction about homeschooling and are committed to it long-term.  They love to encourage other families in their own personal and home schooling journeys.  Kris enjoys helping new homeschooling moms get started and get “plugged in” to the homeschool community. She also loves to encourage homeschooling mothers in all of the struggles and ups and downs of this high calling. Years of experience with many varied learning, emotional and behavioral issues make her a valuable resource for many homeschooling and parenting challenges.

May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 15:5-6
