Statements of Faith and Purpose

Our Statement of Faith

West Shore Christian Evangelical Co-op is a non-denominational, evangelical (believing in the necessity of salvation in Christ), Bible-believing (embracing the Bible as God's infallible and complete message to all people) and grace-clinging group of home educating families.

We believe that there is one true God who exists in a perfect relationship of three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)

We believe that all people sin, falling short of God's standard of perfection thus separating us from God (Rom. 5:12, 3:23) and that the payment for sin is eternal separation from God, but that in God's great love and mercy, He has provided all people a way of salvation - a way to be reunited with God - through Jesus Christ's death, burial and resurrection. (Rom. 6:23, 1 Peter 1:3)

We believe that salvation comes by grace through faith, not by any good works that we may do, but it is a gift of God (Eph. 2:8&9) and that anyone who confesses with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and believes in his heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, he will be saved. (Rom. 10:9 & 10, 13)

We believe that upon receiving this salvation, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us, teaching us and enabling us to have an intimate relationship with God and live a Godly life. (Acts 2:38, John 14:26)

We believe that those who receive this salvation through faith in Christ make up the true church, the body of Christ. We value the body of Christ regardless of denominational lines. (1 Corinthians 12:13)

We believe, as followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to testify to the Good News of God's grace and live out our faith openly before others (Acts 20:24) This is accomplished as we love God with all our heart, mind, soul and strength and love others as ourselves. (Luke 10:27)
